S/V Denis Sullivan
TheS/V Denis Sullivan is a 137' wooden schooner with three masts. Hailing as the flagship of Wisconsin, the Denis Sullivan travels between the Great Lakes and the Caribbean as an educational vessel.
While returning to the Great Lakes this season, the captain and crew discovered several leaks and other issues that would require immediate attention. The captain contacted us and we made arrangements to have her hauled on our yard.
Excessive rain didn't help as we pulled the 150 ton schooner out of the water and started moving it across the yard, but we were able to get her blocked up and ready to start repairs. Click here to see the news video as reported by News14.
We helped the crew of the schooner get started on recaulking the leaks in the hull. After a week of intense labor, the leaks were fixed and the boat was sanded and painted.
While the crew recaulked the hull, we set to work repairing and replacing the shafts of the ship. Our local machine shop got them ready for us and machine corrected the props. We then aligned the shafts and installed the props back in the boat. Less than two weeks after coming onto the yard, we had her ready to set sail and go back home.
